Ända sedan jag såg The Aviator första gången och bekantade mig lite närmare med den märklige Howard Hughes har jag varit nyfiken på The Outlaw. Visst fanns det mycket som den amerikanska censuren hade invändningar mot i The Outlaw, men en eller två saker stod ändå helt klart i blickfånget. Joe Breen vid Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America meddelade Hughes: ”in my more than ten years of critical examination of motion pictures, I have never seen anything quite so unacceptable as the shots of the breasts of the character of Rio….Throughout almost half the picture the girl’s breasts, which are quite large and prominent, are shockingly emphasized”. The Outlaw är alltså en film om skådespelerskan Jane Russells bröst.
